A New Peace

A New Peace; Created From Fear

Although atomic weapons have killed thousands of people and have the ability to cause catastrophic damage, they have led to a more peaceful world with the mere threat of the damage they can cause. They put an end to World War II by showing what they could do if war went on.

Nuclear Weapons Have Prompted Fears of Global Catastrophe

It can be agreed by just about anyone that nuclear weapons are the most terrifying ever invented. They have the power to instantly kill thousands of people and many more afterwards. Even though these weapons have these abilities, they haven't been used since the end of World War II. Prior to the invention of nuclear weapons, tens of millions have died in war. After the invention, War-Related deaths decreased dramatically and we haven't been under the threat of another world war in years.

Environmental Effects of Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear weapons have also had environmental threats larger than human threats that could ruin the Earth. They can change temperatures, cause ozone depletion anywhere from 40-70 percent, block sun rays from hitting the surface, and prevent anyone from growing crops for five years after a conflict. Many people around the world are aware of these threats, thus eliminating the chances of a nuclear war from happening.

Nuclear Deterrence

The owning of nuclear weapons by many countries have caused a deterrence that decreases the chances of wars happening in the future. A World War hasn't happened since nuclear weapons were invented. Without nuclear weapons, the chances of war are higher.
